J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Kiwanis Club of Huntingdon are partnering for the sixth year to offer a Community Wellness Check on Saturday, May 6, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the J.C. Blair Education Center on the Hospital campus in Huntingdon. The Wellness Check is an affordable, comprehensive blood test – over $350 value for just $40. Appointments are recommended by registering online.
Testing includes a lipid panel (to measure cholesterol - total, LDL, HDL and triglycerides), a metabolic panel, TSH (thyroid check), hemoglobin/hematocrit, and hemoglobin A1C. This comprehensive blood test will provide participants valuable information about their heart, thyroid, kidney and liver health, diabetes, anemia and any electrolyte imbalance.
The Wellness Check is for adults 18 and older. To guarantee quick service, appointments are recommended; however, walk-ins are welcome. Participants should not eat or drink anything, except water, after midnight the night before. Refreshments will be provided by the Kiwanis Club for participants after completing the blood test.
Results will be sent to each participant and his or her primary care provider. If a participant does not have a primary care provider, one of J.C. Blair Medical Services’ physicians will follow up. Payment can be made by check, cash or credit card at the time of the screening.
A variety of additional free screening and educational stations will be provided including blood pressure, BMI, body fat analysis, bone density testing, breast density and cancer risk assessment; and more.
Space is limited, so appointments are recommended. For questions, call (814) 643-8675.
