Huntingdon, PA (3/29/17) – J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Kiwanis Club of Huntingdon are partnering for the sixth year to offer a Community Wellness Check on Saturday, May 6, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the J.C. Blair Education Center on the Hospital campus in Huntingdon. The Wellness Check is an affordable, comprehensive blood test – over $350 value for just $40. Appointments can be made by going online to www.jcblair.org/wellness or by calling the hospital’s Community Relations office at (814) 643-8675.
Testing includes a lipid panel (to measure cholesterol - total, LDL, HDL and triglycerides), a metabolic panel, TSH (thyroid check), hemoglobin/hematocrit, and hemoglobin A1C. This comprehensive blood test will provide participants valuable information about their heart, thyroid, kidney and liver health, diabetes, anemia and any electrolyte imbalance.
Additional free screenings available at the event include blood pressure, BMI (body mass index) BFA (body fat analysis), vision, osteoporosis, pulse oximetry, mental health, and more.
The Wellness Check is for adults 18 and older. To guarantee quick service, appointments are recommended; however, walk-ins are welcome. Participants should not eat or drink anything, except water, after midnight the night before. Refreshments will be provided by the Kiwanis Club for participants after completing the blood test.
Results will be sent to each participant and his or her primary care provider. If a participant does not have a primary care provider, one of J.C. Blair Medical Services’ physicians will follow up. Payment can be made by check, cash or credit card at the time of the screening.
Space is limited, so appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, go online to www.jcblair.org/wellness or call the Community Relations office at (814) 643-8675.
