Huntingdon, PA (5/16/2017) – On Tuesday, May 30, J.C. Blair Health System will celebrate the completion of the new heart catheterization lab at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Health System and elected officials will cut the ceremonial ribbon in the hospital’s main lobby at 4 p.m., followed by tours of the new facility until 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. RSVPs are appreciated by calling (814) 643-8548 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The new cath lab will open for patients Wednesday, May 31. During a heart attack when heart arteries are blocked, time is muscle. Having a cath lab at J.C. Blair means many patients will benefit from on-site, quicker diagnosis and treatment, saving lives and reducing heart damage. Cardiologists, such as Hany Shanoudy, MD, J.C. Blair’s medical director of cardiopulmonary services, and Michael Sabatini, MD, cath lab medical director, will perform minimally invasive heart catheterization procedures at J.C. Blair.
“Our physicians and staff at J.C. Blair have been working diligently with the PinnacleHealth CardioVascular Institute, the architect, and construction company since last fall to bring this much needed, high quality service to our community,” stated Adam Dimm, J.C. Blair’s chief operating officer. “We can’t wait to showcase this new lab to our community, and to let everyone know that the next time someone in our area needs this life-saving service, we are here for them.”
PinnacleHealth’s nationally accredited CardioVascular Institute has been instrumental in bringing this new level of cardiac care to J.C. Blair. PinnacleHealth CardioVascular Institute provided more than $800,000 in equipment and many hours of on-site staff training for J.C. Blair nurses and technicians. Corazon, Inc., a specialized cardiac catheterization consulting firm, has been working with and advising a number of committees at J.C. Blair in preparation for the accreditation and opening of the new lab.
The lab was designed by JPT Architects from State College and constructed by Alexander Building Construction of Harrisburg.
Tours will also include a look at the new Endoscopy Suite at J.C. Blair.
