Huntingdon, PA (11/16/18) – November is American Diabetes Month and J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon is recognizing this occasion by kicking off a new series of free diabetes self-management classes. The hospital has announced its 2018-19 schedule of free morning and evening classes, starting with a morning series beginning Thursday, November 27. One class is held every week for four weeks from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the J.C. Blair Education Center located at 860 Bryan Street, across the parking lot from the Hospital. Individual counseling sessions take place before the first group session. The classes are free but pre-registration is required. A series of evening classes will begin in January.
The diabetes self-management classes are designed for individuals who have been diagnosed with diabetes and their caregivers or families, to learn how to control this chronic condition and prevent, delay, detect, and treat diabetes complications. Attendees will be empowered with tools to help them take responsibility for their own treatment regimens.
J.C. Blair staff is committed to educating diabetes patients, especially those who may be struggling with controlling their diabetes. The sessions cover all aspects of managing diabetes with the goal of preventing, minimizing or delaying the onset of complications when the disease is not managed well. There is still time to enroll in the first session; however, space is limited. For more information or to register, please call (814) 643-8537.
