J.C. Blair Medical Staff Makes First Gift to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation

Huntingdon, PA 8/13/03 – Officials of the newly formed J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation were pleasantly surprised last week when J.C. Blair's Chief of Staff Keith Sutton, M.D. presented a check for $10,000 to the Foundation on behalf of the medical staff at J.C. Blair. Sutton indicated that the medical staff voted unanimously to make this significant contribution to help get the Foundation off to a good start.

“This contribution demonstrates the dedication of this medical staff to the institution in which we serve,” said Dr. Sutton. “We are also hopeful that this will demonstrate to the community the importance of charity to the long term survival of our hospital,” citing how it was the charity of the Hospital's founder Kate Fisher Blair and the community which built J.C. Blair and has helped to keep J.C. Blair afloat for over 90 years.

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation, Inc. is a separate, non-profit entity from the Hospital but a part of J.C. Blair Health Systems, Inc. The Foundation was established in November 2000 as part of the corporate restructuring of the hospital into a health system with separate for-profit and not-for-profit entities. The Foundation has its own (501)(c)(3) non-profit status and its own board chaired by Garry Pote . Susan Ulrich McLaughlin, CFRE, serves as the Foundation's Executive Director with offices in Suite 3 at 900 Bryan Street on the Hospital's campus.
