Invitations are out for J.C. Blair’s 59th Annual Benefit Event

Over 1,300 invitations went out to potential patrons for J.C. Blair’s 59th Annual Benefit Event – a Jammin’ Caribbean Bash - November 21, 2009, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Huntingdon Country Club, hosted by The Auxiliary to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. To make a reservation, call the J.C. Blair Foundation Office at 643-8889.

The theme is set for this year’s benefit event for J.C. Blair, and co-chairs Cindy and Don Wetzel and Cindy and Mike Knott are determined to make it the best attended event in recent history. The team is planning a Jammin’ Caribbean Bash, featuring the Randy Jackson Band from Altoona.

Huntingdon Country Club Chef David Lightner will prepare Caribbean inspired heavy hors d’oeuvres to continue the theme, which will include jerk chicken, margarita shrimp and make-your-own mini Cuban sandwiches. There will be Landshark beer and rum punch.

The committee is kicking off the benefit event with a new fundraising idea - raffling off a Caribbean Cruise for Two. The winning ticket will be drawn during the Jammin’ Caribbean Bash at 10 p.m. Winner does not need be present to win. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by calling the Hospital’s Community Relations Office at (814) 643-8833.

The Hospital’s Benefit Event (formerly known as the ‘Charity Ball’), first started in 1948, has raised money for special projects throughout the Hospital ranging from examining lights and an infant security system to a mammography system and specialized equipment for the Endoscopy Center.
