Power of Pink Breast Health Lunch n' Learn

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital’s Chief Radiologist and Alliance for Breast Care member, Maria Pettinger, M.D., shows women what mammograms reveal and describes the size of lumps that women discover by accident and the size that are detected by mammograms. Over 20 women attended the Alliance’s first Power of Pink Breast Health Lunch n’ Learn at the Community State Bank in Orbisonia, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Pettinger, along with J.C. Blair Mammography Director Penny Shope and Centre/Huntingdon Tapestry of Health Community Educator Tina Cunningham, educated the women about the importance of self-breast exams and regular screening mammograms, risk factors for breast cancer, and resources for free mammograms and treatment if breast cancer is detected. The next Power of Pink Breast Health Lunch n’ Learn will be Wednesday, June 24 from noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Pavilion behind the Juniata Valley Medical Center in Alexandria. Please RSVP to (814) 643-8833 or powerofpink09@gmail.com.
