J.C. Blair Wound Healing Center Utilizes New Technology
Wound Care Clinicians at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital have adopted a New Wound Care Technology that is clinically proven to accelerate healing.
Over 90 million patients are treated annually for all wound conditions in the U.S. alone. More than six million of these patients experience non-healing wounds that do not respond to standard wound care. This trend is anticipated to increase with our aging population. The treatment of these non-healing wounds is not only challenging but also cost prohibitive. Hospitals must be in search of technologies that can speed care and result in lower costs.
In addition to traditional would healing treatments, the Wound Healing Center at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital now utilizes Celleration’s MIST Therapy® System which delivers low-energy ultrasonic sound waves through a mist of sterile saline. The MIST Therapy® System is a painless, non-contact ultrasound device used to promote wound healing through cellular stimulation while removing bacteria, allowing clinicians to heal wounds faster.
Dr. Molly Ettenger, of the Wound Healing Center at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, started investigating MIST Therapy in the summer of 2008. In January of 2009, MIST Therapy was officially introduced to the J. C. Blair Wound Care Center. “We are very excited to provide this painless, advanced wound healing treatment to our patients,” said Brenda Crouch, Nurse Manager. “We are seeing positive clinical results and pleased to have this state-of-the-art technology available to patients.”
