Community Invited to Radiology Dedication & Open House
J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Huntingdon County Arts Council invite the public to the dedication of “The Light of Healing” art installation and the Hospital’s Radiology Department renovations on Tuesday, February 24 at 5:30 p.m. An open house to view the art display and the recently renovated Radiology Department will follow until 7:00 p.m.
Photographer Dan Burkholder created “The Light of Healing” – a permanent photographic art installation in the new reception area of the Radiology Department. The project was commissioned by the Huntingdon County Arts Council with grant support from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and the generosity of local donors. This project embraces technology reflective of the state-of-the-art radiology facility and pays tribute to the Hospital and Art Council’s ongoing commitment to the community.
Dan Burkholder is a professional photographer whose long career built an impressive portfolio ranging from traditional to digital photography. An expert on high dynamic range (HDR) photography, he has most recently published “The Color of Loss”, a book of images of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The newly renovated reception and office area in the Radiology Department is being dedicated to the memory of long time Department Director Jim Smith, who after 36 years of service in the department, died in 2007. Local interior designer Erin Ody Wilson worked with hospital staff to create a very comfortable and caring environment for radiology patients and staff.
