Safe Kids Huntingdon County, J.C. Blair & PennDOT Team Up for Kids
Safe Kids Huntingdon County, led by J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, raffled off two bikes at the Huntingdon County Fair. Faith Morgan, age 7, of Mapleton won the girls bike and Tyler Rourke, age 11, of Huntingdon, won the boys bike which were provided through the generous donations of PennDOT employees. A bike helmet was provided to each winner by Safe Kids Huntingdon County. Over 950 children entered the bike drawing this year.
This marks the eighth year that Safe Kids Huntingdon County, J.C. Blair and Huntingdon PennDOT have teamed up to help raise bike safety awareness in our community. Bike partners include (left to right, standing) PennDOT employee representatives Craig Walker, Ed Fortman, John Brennan, Brian Beam, Donna Evans, Jeff Miller, Julia Reel, Ryan Walker, Heather Stauffer, Jerry Conese; and J.C. Blair Community Relations and Huntingdon County Safe Kids Coordinator Stacey Freitag. Fred Shade and Patty Brouse led the annual PennDOT bike donation project but were unavailable for the photo. Also in the photo was Faith's brother, Daniel Morgan, age 5, and Tyler's mom Jennifer Kormanic.
After a bike accident the day before, Tyler promised to wear his bike helmet every time that he rides his new bike! For more information about Huntingdon County Safe Kids or for bicycle safety information, please call (814) 643-8833.
