J.C. Blair Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon
J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of orthopedic surgeon Lawrence Wallace, M.D. to its medical staff. “Dr. Wallace expands a much needed specialty service to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Huntingdon County. Patients will have more opportunity for local community based orthopedic care,” said J.C. Blair Interim President & CEO Lisa Mallon.
Dr. Wallace is specially trained to treat a variety of orthopedic issues including: total knee and hip replacements, hip fracture surgeries, shoulder surgeries, upper and lower extremity fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome and sports injury management.
Dr. Wallace earned his medical degree at East Carolina University School of Medicine, Greenville, North Carolina and completed his orthopedic and general surgery residency at Greenville Hospital System, Greenville, South Carolina. He received additional training at Drexel University College of Medicine - Hahnemann University Hospital. Dr. Wallace previously worked as an orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedics of Southwest Virginia, Richlands, Virginia, and Southwest Virginia Orthopedics, Norton, Virginia. Prior to pursuing his medical degree, Dr. Wallace earned his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and worked as a physical therapist for five years.
“I’ve had previous experience working in a small community hospital and really enjoyed it,” Dr. Wallace said. “I look forward to getting to know my patients and developing a good working relationship with the staff in this close-knit community.”
