Nearly 200 participate in Dr. David Miller Memorial Event
Nearly 200 people came out on Saturday, April 28, 2012, to participate and volunteer for the 4rd Annual Dr. David Miller Memorial Run and Walk on J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Hill. Early estimates indicate that the event raised over $4,000 to benefit the Dr. David Miller Memorial Fund at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation. The Miller Family hopes to use the money to support the planned Emergency Department expansion and renovations at J.C. Blair.
Eighty four runners registered for the 5K race. Awards were presented to the top three overall male and female 5K runners and runners of eight different age groups. Overall female finishers were: first place: Amy Prokop; second place: Ellie Keller; and third place: Hannah Lynn. Overall male finishers were: first place: Alex Tietjens; second place: Nick Miller; and third place: Nick Payne. Gold, silver and bronze medals with Dr. Miller's picture were presented to the winners.

The 5K walk, new this year, and the 5K run route started from J.C. Blair, and continued through the campuses of Juniata College and Huntingdon Area High School and back up Hospital Hill. Volunteers from Huntingdon Nursing and Rehab Center, Huntingdon Area High School Student Council, Juniata College and J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital lined the race route to direct traffic and cheer on participants.

Dr. David Miller was a family practice physician who died November 2, 2007, at the age of 62. He was an avid runner and a big fan of Huntingdon Bearcat athletics and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. His family, friends and patients organize this salute to his community spirit every year.
