J.C. Blair and Kiwanis Offer Community Wellness Check

J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Kiwanis Club of Huntingdon are offering a Community Wellness Check on Saturday, May 5, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the J.C. Blair Education Center on the Hospital campus in Huntingdon. The Wellness Check is an affordable blood analysis – over $300 value for just $35. Testing includes a lipid panel, metabolic panel, TSH (thyroid check), hemoglobin/hematocrit. This comprehensive blood test will detect potential health problems including heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney disease, liver disease, anemia, and electrolyte imbalance. Additional free screenings available at the event include blood pressure screenings, BMI (body mass index) calculations, stroke risk assessments, foot evaluations and more.

The Huntingdon Kiwanis Club will be offering healthy breakfast refreshments and hospitality for the event. “The Huntingdon Kiwanis Club has a long history of sponsoring this type of screening to the community each spring,” said William Frazier, President of the local club. “We are pleased to partner with our local hospital, J.C. Blair, this year and invite all of our previous participants to join us.”

The Wellness Check is for adults 18 and older. To guarantee quick service, appointments are recommended; however, walk-ins are welcome. Participants should not eat or drink anything, except water, after midnight the night before. Results will be sent to each participant and his or her primary care provider. If a participant does not have a primary care provider, one of J.C. Blair Medical Services’ physicians will be assigned to follow up. Payment can be made by check, cash or credit card at the time of the screening. Vouchers are available for employers who wish to pay for their employees’ participation in the screening.

Space is limited, so appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, call J.C. Blair Medical Services Call Center at (814) 643-8484.
