The staff of the Wound Healing Center invites the community to join them for an Open House on Thursday, February 16 from 4 - 6 p.m. to celebrate the Center’s 10th Anniversary. Meet the staff, take a tour of the Center, view the state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) chamber and enjoy a piece of anniversary cake and some healthy snacks. The expert nursing and office staff will be on hand to talk with those interested in touring and learning more about the specialized treatments the Center provides to heal wounds that have not responded to other treatments. Please RSVP by calling (814) 643-8367.
J.C. Blair Wound Healing Center offers a variety of specialized treatments, including: transcutaneous oxygen monitoring to determine the level of oxygen available to the wound to promote healing; doppler evaluation of pulses to determine blood flow available to transport nutrients and medications to the wound; hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) in which the patient breathes 100% oxygen at increased atmospheric pressures to increase the oxygen levels in the body to promote healing. The Center was also one of the first in the area to offer a treatment using platelet rich plasma. Dr. Ettenger credits family practice physician Mark Minor, M.D. for bringing this treatment to the Wound Healing Center nearly ten years ago.
The Wound Healing Center is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. In addition to podiatrist Dr. Rowe and internal medicine physician Dr. Ettenger, general surgeon James Schall, M.D., and podiatrist Tammy Carlson, DPM, see patients in the Wound Healing Center.
