Invitations Being Mailed for J.C. Blair's 100th Anniversary Gala
Nearly 2000 invitations to the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital 100th Anniversary Gala will be mailed in early July. To be sure to be on this list, contact Valerie Long at (814) 643-8827.
The Auxiliary to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital will host the “Evening of Promise Gala” on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 5:30 – 11:30 p.m. at the Lake Raystown Resort, in celebration of the Hospital’s 100th Anniversary.
This formal, black tie preferred event is the culmination of an 18 month celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Hospital. The “Evening of Promise Gala” will feature a champagne toast and reception with music provided by harpist Lynda Kuckenbrod, complimentary photographs by photographer Shelly Rivello, a gourmet sit-down meal, and dancing to “Uptown Band” from Philadelphia. A recognition program will honor individuals from the community who have made significant contributions of volunteer time, financial support and medical talents to the Hospital over its first century of service. The Gala will also include a silent auction featuring a number of popular items that are being donated.
Bus transportation will be available from Huntingdon to the resort and back. For those who prefer to drive, valet parking will be available. Attendees can make a night of it by taking advantage of discounted room packages at the Resort Lodge. Discounted room rates are available until July 17, by calling the resort at (814) 658-3500.
All proceeds from the Gala will benefit the first project of the Hospital’s next century – the expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department, Main Lobby and Outpatient areas of the Hospital.
“The ER was designed in the 1970’s to accommodate 10,000 patients per year and, at present, it’s seeing more than 16,000 per year,” said J.C. Blair Community Relations Director Chris Gildea. “The whole aspect of emergency care has changed since this department was built, and our emergency department needs to be able to adapt to these changes. We need flexibility to effectively and efficiently take care of all of our patients.”
Gala co-chairs Keith and Susie Black and Geoff and Cindy Clarke look to make this once-in-a- lifetime event special. “We are pulling out all the stops in an effort to celebrate the first 100 years,” said Cindy Clarke.
“This is our promise for the next 100 years,” said Keith Black. “One-hundred years later, we’re renewing our promise. We all feel fortunate we’ve had a quality hospital in Huntingdon County to serve all of our residents and visitors. It’s a benefit to the entire economy of the area, and is one our county’s top employers.”
