J.C. Blair Auxiliary Announces Bette J. Heine Nursing Scholarship Winner
The Auxiliary to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon has announced the ninth annual Bette Jane Heine Nursing Scholarship recipient, Brittany Greene. She is the daughter of Kathy Leamer and Larry L. Greene, Jr., both of Huntingdon.
Brittany will attend Mount Aloysius College in the fall to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She graduated from Huntingdon Area High School earlier this month. While at HAHS, Brittany was a member of the volleyball, softball and tennis teams. She served as a member of the Prom Committee.
Brittany enjoyed volunteering her time in the maternity ward at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital as part of her senior project. She works at Little Hearts, a consignment store in Huntingdon. In her spare time she enjoys zumba and boating at Lake Raystown. She also enjoys running and won first place in her age group in the Scott Grugan Memorial 5K and the Dr. David Miller Memorial 5K.
The Bette Jane Heine Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of Bette Jane Heine by the Detwiler family in 2002. Mrs. Heine was renowned as a civic leader and for her service to the community throughout her adult life.
Scholarship selection committee members were: Sally Oberle, Chair, Joanne Krugh, Bonnie Lakso, Miranda Peruso, Larry Powell and Judi Romano.
