Midwife Returns to Huntingdon Ob/Gyn Practice
The staff of J.C. Blair OB/GYN Associates, Ltd. and J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital recently welcomed the return of certified nurse-midwife Donna Butler Rackley. Donna joins Obstetrician/ Gynecologist Dr. Kenneth Lee who provides area women comprehensive women’s health services at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Having practiced at J.C. Blair from December 2000 until June 2003, she left the area to return back to her native state of North Carolina to practice midwifery. Since that time, she also practiced at Fort Bragg Army Base in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and served two years with the Indian Health Service on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. She was recently featured in the New York Times, March 2010, for her work and experience on the reservation.
Rackley obtained her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. and was both an obstetrical and medical/surgical nurse at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, N.C. She completed her nurse-midwife degree in December 1999 at the Frontier School of Nurse-Midwifery and Family Nursing and earned her master’s of science in nursing at Case Western University in 2001.
She is certified as a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and with the National Certification Council as an intrapartum nurse.
As a certified nurse-midwife at J.C. Blair OB/GYN Associates, Ltd., Rackley works collaboratively with Dr. Lee to provide well-woman gynecology; prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care; and family planning services. The J.C. Blair OB/GYN Associates, Ltd. staff also provides the “Healthy Beginnings” program for women who qualify for Medical Assistance.
“I’m very excited to be back in the area, meeting new people and seeing some of my former patients,” Rackley shared.
