Registration Deadline Approaching for JC Blair Safe Sitter Class
The deadline to register for the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital’s Safe Sitter class is June 9. Taught by J.C. Blair nurses, “Safe Sitter” is a medically accurate program for youth ages 11 and older that teaches potential babysitters how to handle emergencies when caring for children. The class not only discusses how to prevent injury but how to administer first aid and how to help a choking child. The class teaches safe and nurturing child care techniques, including feeding and diapering young children, and behavior management skills. The class will be offered twice in June- Friday, June 11 or Monday, June 14 with a registration fee of $40 that covers the cost of class materials, a certificate of completion and lunch. Upon completion of the program, participants receive periodic newsletters with babysitting tips and other valuable information. Classes will be held in the J.C. Blair Education Center from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a graduation ceremony that starts promptly at 3:45 p.m. Parents are invited to attend. Deadline to register is June 9. Space is limited.
