Memorial Run on Memorial Day Honors Dr. David Miller
On Monday, May 31, 2010, J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation is sponsoring the second annual Dr. David Miller Memorial Run and Walk, which will also kick off a series of events to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. The 5K Run will begin at 9:00 a.m. This yearís event will begin and end at the Medical Office Building Entrance Plaza of the Hospital. The 5K Run route travels from J.C. Blair, through the campuses of Juniata College and Huntingdon Area High School and Middle School and back up Hospital Hill. The One Mile Walk or Run will begin at J.C. Blair after the 5 K runners take off, and the Kids Fun Run will take place following the run and walk. To register, go to www.jcblair.org or call (814) 643-8548.
Following the Dr. Miller Memorial events, a ceremony to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the laying of the Hospitalís corner stone will take place. This ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a flag raising at the Main Entrance of the Hospital and conclude at the Medical Office Building Entrance Plaza, where the original corner stone is located. Refreshments will follow.
Dr. David Miller was a family practice physician who died November 2, 2007, at the age of 62. He was an avid runner and a big fan of Huntingdon Bearcat athletics and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. His family, friends and patients have organized this salute to his community spirit.
All proceeds raised from this event will benefit the Dr. David Miller Memorial Fund of the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Foundation. Dr. Millerís family hopes to contribute funds toward the renovation of J.C. Blairís Emergency Department.
