COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY

J.C. Blair’s commitment to the Huntingdon County community stretches beyond the care provided inside the hospital walls. Through classes, health fairs, tours, job shadowing, internships, screenings, classes and events, J.C. Blair seeks to improve the health and health awareness of the community, as well as promote careers in health care. Check out our Calendar of Events for upcoming programs.
And you will find J.C. Blair employees coaching softball, teaching ballet, volunteering at the local fire companies, providing volunteer EMS services, building houses for Habitat for Humanity and more.
Nurse Kathy Jeffries instructs teens on safety and care of young children at the J.C. Blair Safe Sitter class taught every spring on the Hospital campus.
Promoting health and health careers, J.C. Blair nurses help this youngster “dress the part” at Senator Jubelirer’s Kid’s Day at the Altoona Curve Ball Park.
In Fiscal Year 2004-2005, J.C. Blair employees contributed 2,392 hours of community service.
In addition, J.C. Blair employees contributed $8,500 to the United Way, $7,800
to the J.C. Blair Foundation, $700 for Hurricane Katrina victims and $1,000 for
the Christmas Carol project. Eighty two shoe boxes of toys were collected for
pediatric patients with the help of Juniata College intern, Cheryl Koza.
